County Chairman Honors FCGEU Member for Winning Idea in the "Everybody Wins" Contest

Everybody Wins contest winner
In the last year our union has doubled in size, we have not only grown in numbers, but our list of accomplishments has grown drastically as well. We have done this while remembering that our organization must be a different kind of union — one that doesn't seek out conflict with our supervisors, but rather looks for ways to partner with them in order to promote reliable services for the citizens who count on us. Over the past year, we have:

  • Broadened our base of members throughout the county — making our collective voice much more powerful in the process.

  • Elected a 7 member board of Fairfax County employees committed to our issues.

  • Fought against County layoffs and drastically reduced the number of county employees who were eventually let go.

  • Knocked on thousands of doors in support of pro-worker candidates in several elections.

  • Created a GOP committee for FCGEU members who identified with the Republican Party.

  • Developed our own Pay-for-Performance proposal and presented it to the Board of Supervisors.

  • Established Quality Public Services Committee's in departments where a majority of employees are in the union. We meet with and work with management to solve issues before they become problems.

  • Trainings for members on Workman Comp Claims and understanding how to work within county policies and procedures.
